Song of the Day: March 1, 2017

Hip hop legend Nas collaborates with Future to bring the madness on a remix to Future’s hit “March Madness.”

With today being the first day of March, there is no recent song more closely related to the month than Future’s “March Madness.” The song was a smashing success when it was released in 2015 and helped propel Future’s career to new heights.

In this remix, Nas only has one verse. He raps about his influence on the hip hop industry, as well as the adversities of being a black man in the United States.

Neither the beat nor Future’s verses from the original version of “March Madness” are altered, but they don’t need to be. If something brings you success, there’s no need to change it.

Although this version is less memorable and was less marketed than the version of “March Madness” which appeared on Future’s 2015 mixtape 56 Nights, it is still a decent work. Additionally, it is worth listening to in order to see how Nas’ 90s style mixes with Future’s more trap-oriented music.
